MICROPLASTICS
Understanding Microplastics and Our Commitment to Minimizing Them
What Are Microplastics? Microplastics are tiny plastic particles, often less than 5mm in size, that result from the breakdown of larger plastic items or are manufactured as small particles. They are pervasive in our environment, affecting ecosystems and human health.
Materials That Shed Microplastics: Synthetic fibers, such as polyester, nylon, acrylic, and spandex / lycra / elastane, shed microplastics. These synthetic fibers can be found in not only the fabric of a garment, but also in its components (e.g., thread, elastic, heat-transfer labels, bra cups, etc.).
Our Commitment to Minimizing Microplastics: To truly eliminate microplastics, every component of a garment must be free from synthetic fibers. After months of sourcing for INNER-REBEL, I can honestly say this is a very difficult and costly feat to accomplish in the present day. We are VERY dependent on plastic, that's the simple truth of it. So, we are all about MINIMIZING microplastics.
Here's Where We Stand:
Our fabric: made from wood pulp and MICROPLASTIC FREE.
Our thread: we are working on the best, cost-effective solution here.
Our elastic: same!
Our heat-transfer labels: likewise!
Our bra cups: ditto!
By choosing INNER-REBEL, you support a brand that prioritizes environmental health and transparency. We are committed to offering sustainable athleisure wear that actively reduces microplastic pollution. If current limitations in availability or cost prevent us from achieving this today, rest assured that we are diligently working towards a solution.
